Wellness Plans for Dogs and Cats in South Surrey and White Rock, BC
A wellness plan is more than a list of services. It is a commitment to staying ahead of health problems before they become serious. At Peace Arch Veterinary Hospital in South Surrey, our wellness plans are structured around the specific needs of each life stage, from the rapid development of puppyhood and kittenhood through the stable adult years and into the changing health landscape of the senior years. Each plan bundles the preventive care most relevant to that stage of life, making it easier for families to stay consistent with their pet’s care. Call (604) 536-3131 to learn more or to enroll.
Puppy Wellness Plan
The puppy wellness plan covers the first year of a dog's life, when preventive foundations are most critical. It includes the full vaccination series (DA2PP, rabies, leptospirosis, and Bordetella as appropriate), fecal testing and deworming, microchipping, a parasite prevention discussion tailored to local risks, and nutritional guidance for the breed and size. Physical exams at each visit allow us to monitor growth and development, assess for hernias or cryptorchidism, check retained deciduous teeth, and answer the many questions that arise in the first year. Puppy visits are also an opportunity to build a positive association with veterinary care early, which pays dividends throughout your dog's life.
Kitten Wellness Plan
The kitten wellness plan supports the first year of a cat's life with a structured series of visits covering the FVRCP vaccine series and rabies vaccination, FeLV assessment and vaccination for at-risk kittens, fecal testing and deworming, a parasite discussion including fleas and ear mites, microchipping, and guidance on nutrition, litter box setup, and indoor enrichment. Kittens develop quickly and the socialization window closes early, so regular contact with our team in these first months helps kittens become comfortable with handling and veterinary visits. We also discuss the timing and benefits of spay or neuter surgery at an appropriate age.
Adult Pet Wellness Plan
Adult dogs and cats between one and seven years of age are often the most overlooked when it comes to regular veterinary care, because they appear healthy and show fewer obvious changes. The adult wellness plan includes an annual physical exam, core vaccine boosters on the appropriate schedule, a blood panel and urinalysis to establish baseline values and screen for early disease, a fecal test, and parasite prevention review. Catching conditions such as dental disease, early kidney changes, weight gain, and thyroid issues in the adult years, before symptoms are obvious, consistently leads to better outcomes and lower long-term costs. An annual wellness visit is the single most valuable appointment on your calendar.
Senior Pet Wellness Plan
Dogs and cats over seven years of age, and large breed dogs over five, enter a life stage where health changes can occur more quickly and more subtly than at any other time. The senior wellness plan includes twice-yearly physical examinations, a comprehensive blood panel including thyroid function, urinalysis, and blood pressure monitoring, an age-appropriate vaccine review, a parasite prevention update, a dental assessment, a body condition and nutrition evaluation, and a discussion about any changes in behavior, mobility, sleep, or appetite you have noticed at home. Many conditions that significantly affect senior quality of life, including pain from arthritis, kidney disease, and hyperthyroidism in cats, are identifiable and manageable when found early.

We recommend twice-yearly wellness visits for dogs over 7 years of age, and for large breeds over 5. Health changes in senior dogs can develop and progress quickly, and a six-month interval allows us to identify and respond to changes before they significantly affect quality of life. Between visits, watch for changes in thirst, urination, appetite, mobility, and sleep patterns and contact us if anything seems different.
Yes. Cats are masters at concealing illness until it is advanced. Many of the most common feline health conditions, including kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, dental disease, and diabetes, develop gradually and produce subtle signs that owners often miss or attribute to normal aging. An annual physical exam and blood panel are the most reliable way to catch these conditions before they become serious.
Our puppy wellness plan covers the full DA2PP and leptospirosis vaccine series, rabies vaccination, fecal testing and deworming, microchipping, parasite prevention, and nutritional guidance, along with a physical exam at each visit. We also discuss socialization, dental care, and timing for spay or neuter surgery. Multiple visits are included in the first year to cover the complete vaccination series.
Cats are generally considered senior at 7 years of age, though individual cats age at different rates. Larger-bodied cats may show age-related changes earlier, while smaller cats often remain vibrant well into their teens. We use the term as a guide for adjusting the frequency and scope of wellness visits, not as a strict boundary. Our team will advise on the right schedule for your cat based on their individual health picture.
